WTXL: Local institute hosts ‘Separate Not Equal’ conference

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) – The Leroy Collins Institute is hosting a ‘Separate Not Equal’ conference where they will release their latest report, “Patterns of Resegregation in Florida Schools.”
The report charts resegregation starting in 1994 and on, finding that one-fifth of Florida k through 12 public schools are intensely segregated, and that around one-third of Hispanic and black students attend these schools.
The half-day conference includes a video presentation by the report’s author and two panels, one focused on initial reactions to the report and the other discussing future implications.
