Governor Rick Scott Appoints Dr. Edwin Moore to Board of Directors, Workforce Florida Inc.

Tallahassee, Fla. – Today, Governor Rick Scott announced the appointment of Dr. Edwin H. Moore to the Board of Directors, Workforce Florida Inc.

Moore, 60, of Tallahassee, has been the president and chief executive officer of the Independent Colleges and Universities of Florida since 2003.  He previously worked as staff director for the Florida House of Representatives Policy Committee from 2002 to 2003 and was president and chief executive officer of the James Madison Institute from 2000 to 2002.  Moore received his bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees from Florida State University.  He succeeds Robert Gidel and is appointed for a term beginning February 21, 2012, and ending July 6, 2014.

Statement Regarding Appointment to the Workforce Florida Board of Directors from Dr. Ed Moore, president and CEO of the Independent Colleges and Universities of Florida:

“Higher education should always be a critical part of how Florida approaches economic development. It is such a vital link in producing Florida’s future workforce talent in a variety of fields and Governor Scott clearly recognizes the role of higher education in the future economy of Florida. By my appointment, the Governor places emphasis on higher education to enhance the state’s attraction to companies across the world by including the interests of one of Florida’s brightest assets, all our colleges and universities, in the state’s success plan for bringing businesses and jobs to Florida.”
