SaintPetersBlog: Dr. Ed Moore to focus on the Sunshine State’s talent pipeline at Florida Chamber Foundation’s education summit

Friday, September 27, 2013

The Florida Chamber Foundation’s Education Summit kicked off today in Orlando as education leaders around the state gathered to debate some of Florida’s toughest issues surrounding learning. The summit brings together the state’s top thinkers to participate in purposeful conversation on the issues of talent supply and demand.

As part of the event, Dr. Ed Moore, president of the Independent Colleges & Universities of Florida, will serve as a panelist for “Prepping the Pipeline,” which focuses on the challenge of preparing the next generation of skilled workers. The discussion will also include strategies to ensure the future success of Florida students, what’s working and in what areas we can improve.

“I am proud to be a part of this essential discussion and I look forward to exploring meaningful solutions to Florida’s greatest education challenges,” said Dr. Moore. “The policy decisions that our state is making will influence generations to come. We must make the best decisions possible, investing in our talent pipeline to secure a bright future for Florida.”

“To remain competitive in a changing economy, Florida’s education system needs to prepare students for jobs of the future,” said Tony Carvajal, Executive Vice President of the Florida Chamber Foundation. “The Florida Chamber Foundation’s Education Summit will help business and education leaders from throughout Florida determine if our state is ready to compete in a 21st century global economy. As a state and national education leader, Dr. Ed Moore’s perspective on Florida’s talent supply pipeline will help guide the conversation.”

Other “Prepping the Pipeline” panelists include Jane A. Adams with University of Florida, and Frank Fuller of The Florida Senate. The panel will be moderated by Bentina Terry, Chair of the Florida Chamber Foundation. For more information about the Florida Chamber Foundation’s Education Summit, please view the agenda.
