WEAR ABC 3: School, Cox team up offer Internet low-income families

Tuesday, September 10, 2013

Providing high-speed internet to low-income families. That’s the goal of the “Connect-2-compete” program being launched by the Escambia County School District and Cox Communications.

Qualifying families will be eligible for internet service for just under 10-dollars a month, plus tax.

Cox Communications is also waiving all of the activation fees and equipment rental fees.

With more teachers using online tools to educate kids, the need for home internet is more important than ever.

“Teachers in America using their wi-fi just to do their homework.”
